Silk is one of the signature fabrics that we use. A fabric celebrated for its natural beauty, however the delicate nature of silk fibres requires thoughtful care. To extend the life of these items, handle them gently and wash them as sparingly as possible.

Since silk is a fabric we use consistently across seasonal collections, it is important for us to ensure that it is sustainably sourced. We are proud to be able to say that all our silk is sustainably produced in small quantities in China in the heart of the historical silk producing city of Suzhou.

At Hai, we take a pragmatic approach. We produce our items in small quantities to avoid overproduction and in locations best suited to each product. While honouring the foundations of our brand, we continually seek the most sustainable and luxurious methods of production as our product range expands

Our bags are ethically produced near our silk suppliers in China, where craftsmanship and luxury standards are central to their operations.

Our exclusive ready-to-wear pieces are sustainably crafted in an atelier in London and in Suzhou, the same location where our bags are produced.

We have conducted extensive research to ensure that each of our manufacturers produces the highest-quality version of our designs. This commitment is why we chose to distribute our production across multiple locations.

Caring for your silk and cashmere silk blend pieces

Hand-wash in cool water with a small amount of delicate natural detergent.

Leave to bathe for 5-10 minutes.

Rinse well with fresh cool water.

Squeeze out extra moisture by carefully rolling in a towel.

Leave on top of a fresh towel or, for clothing, hang to dry away from sun light and direct heat.

We firmly believe that silk clothing doesn’t need to be washed as often as you might think. Silk is a naturally moisture-wicking and anti-bacterial fabric, and therefore, doesn’t absorb sweat in the way other fabrics do. Simply hanging your items for a day in a space with free-flowing air can go a long way in making them feel fresher for the next use.

If a mark or stain appears, gently dab with a soft sponge or brush. For persistent stains, we recommend consulting a professional dry-cleaner with silk expertise, making sure to inform them of the stain's origin.
